How many stars would your business get for supporting a circular economy?

The latest TRaCE R&D Voucher project at the University of Newcastle is building a platform to help answer that question.

Superyard’s Supergroup platform is an online marketplace for buying and selling surplus construction materials.

With the growing demand for data in government project tenders, certification applications, and development approvals, the construction industry requires more information about their materials than ever.

In collaboration with Dr Josephine Vaughan, a researcher at the University of Newcastle, Superyard is developing a first-of-a-kind method to help their customers access tangible data on their supplies and the impact of choosing to reuse.

Using many elements related to any material’s source, embodied emissions and other important impact points, this research aims to provide a simple but thorough rating system.

Starting with the construction industry, Superyard’s vision is to shift our cultural perspective on “waste” by highlighting the impact of our choices.

🔬 The TRaCE R&D Voucher program provides small-to-medium enterprises, start-ups, and scale-ups with easy access to co-designed and co-funded R&D projects in recycling and clean energy sectors.
