TRaCE was proud to support the Hunter New Energy Symposium 2026, held in Newcastle as the flagship event of the inaugural Hunter New Energy Week.
Across the program, a clear and consistent message emerged for our region: the focus is shifting from ambition and commitments to construction, delivery, and building long‑term competitive advantage. The conversations reinforced both the scale of opportunity in the Hunter and the urgency of getting delivery right.
This year’s expanded Hunter New Energy Week also provided delegates with greater visibility of the region’s full project pipeline. Through initiatives such as the Industry Showcase and Tour, participants connected directly with companies across the full pipeline, from research to large scale deployment. Site visits showed how these ideas are progressing into real world delivery. Participating organisations included ATB Morton, Allegro Energy, MGA Thermal, UEG Energy, Energy Diversions, Sunman Energy, FPR Energy, NextFarm, and Facet Amtech, alongside many others across the sector.
It was excellent to see strong contributions from TRaCE and the University of Newcastle across the Symposium. Pierre Gouhier, Director of TRaCE, and Dr Paul Ebert, Executive Director of NIER at the University of Newcastle, shared valuable insights on positioning the Hunter as a leading global new energy region. Professor Alan Broadfoot, also of the University of Newcastle, contributed to discussions on the enabling systems required to support this transition, including infrastructure, policy, capital and skills.
Events like this play a critical role in aligning industry, government and research as we move from strategy to implementation.
Thank you to the organisers and all who contributed to a valuable and forward‑focused event.
